Genesis 1:1 (ESV) Then God said, “Let us make man in our image, after our likeness. And let them have dominion over the fish of the sea and over the birds of the heavens and over the livestock and over all the earth and over every creeping thing that creeps on the earth.” So God created man in his own image, in the image of God he created him; male and female he created them. Genesis 1:26-27 (ESV) Then the Lord God formed the man of dust from the ground and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life, and the man became a living creature. Genesis 2:7 (ESV) So the Lord God caused a deep sleep to fall upon the man, and while he slept took one of his ribs and closed up its place with flesh. And the rib that the Lord God had taken from the man he made into a woman and brought her to the man. Then the man said, “This at last is bone of my bones and flesh of my flesh; she shall be called Woman, because she was taken out of Man.” Genesis 2:21-23 (ESV) And God blessed them. And God said to them, “Be fruitful and multiply and fill the earth and subdue it, and have dominion over the fish of the sea and over the birds of the heavens and over every living thing that moves on the earth.” Genesis 1:28 (ESV) And they devoted themselves to the apostles’ teaching and the fellowship, to the breaking of bread and the prayers. And awe came upon every soul, and many wonders and signs were being done through the apostles. And all who believed were together and had all things in common. And they were selling their possessions and belongings and distributing the proceeds to all, as any had need. And day by day, attending the temple together and breaking bread in their homes, they received their food with glad and generous hearts, praising God and having favor with all the people. And the Lord added to their number day by day those who were being saved. Meaning: This verse establishes God as the Creator of everything, setting the foundation for understanding human existence and purpose. It highlights God's sovereign power and the intentional design behind all creation. Scripture 2: Genesis 1:26-27 (ESV) Scripture Text: (26) "Then God said, 'Let us make man in our image, after our likeness. And let them have dominion over the fish of the sea and over the birds of the heavens and over the livestock and over all the earth and over every creeping thing that creeps on the earth.' Meaning: These verses affirm that humans are created in the image of God, giving each person inherent value and dignity. They also emphasize humanity's purpose to steward and govern the earth, reflecting God’s character through their actions. Scripture 3: Genesis 2:7 (ESV) Scripture Text: (7) "Then the Lord God formed the man of dust from the ground and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life, and the man became a living creature." Meaning: This verse illustrates the intimate nature of humanity’s creation, signifying the special relationship between God and human beings. The "breath of life" indicates that life itself is a gift from God, endowing humans with a soul and spirit. Scripture 4: Genesis 2:21-23 (ESV) Scripture Text: (21) "So the Lord God caused a deep sleep to fall upon the man, and while he slept took one of his ribs and closed up its place with flesh. Meaning: This verse highlights the blessing and mandate given to humanity to procreate, fill the earth, and govern it. It underscores the responsibility entrusted to humans to care for and manage God’s creation.
